Access Portal Readers

Impro offers a diverse array of access control readers, to meet a variety of installation requirements. We offer interior and exterior readers, one of the smallest reader footprints, to traditional junction box mountings.

Most readers are available as multi-discipline versions, ensuring that legacy 125kHz proximity tags and the new 13.56MHz ranges are able to be read.

Access Portal - REGISTRATION READER

Portal Readers - DESK MOUNT USB READER

The Impro Multi-discipline Enrollment Reader is a compact, robust, enrollment reader
designed to work with the Impro Access Portal Systems.
New technology allows the Multi-discipline Enrollment Reader to read both 125 kHz and
13.56 MHz frequency Tags.
The Impro MDE includes a four volume, single tone Buzzer and a bi-coloured Red or Green Status LED. The functions of the Buzzer and Status LED are controlled internally.

Access Portal - WIEGAND MULTI-DISCIPLINE READERS

The Impro Multi-discipline Readers are compact and robust Passive Proximity Readers. New technology allows the Multi-discipline Readers to read both 125 kHz and 13.56 MHz frequency Tags. These Readers fit seamlessly into new or existing applications allowing you to upgrade Tag technology without replacing existing Tags. The design of the Multidiscipline Reader allows you to use them with a variety of Terminals and Controllers, within third-party or Impro Access Control Systems. When used with the Wiegand Reader Module, IXP220 Controller, IXP20 Controller or the Impro iTRT, these Readers use AES 128-bit Encryption with a Diffie Hellman key exchange thus ensuring secure communications on the Wiegand Bus. You can use the Multi-discipline Readers in both indoor and protected outdoor environments.

The Keypad Reader versions offer 12-button Keypads, allowing PINcode entry. All models include a single tone, single volume Buzzer and a single tri-coloured Red, Green or Amber Status LED. You can control the functions of the Buzzer and Status LED to suit the needs of your application. The Junction Box versions are suitable for indoor applications.

Portal Readers -  Wiegand Junction Box Multi-discipline

MJR: Impro non-keypad multi-discipline junction box reader (MJR) with buzzer, ABS enclosure and tricoloured LED

The modern design, coupled with black high-intensity durable plastic, makes this a robust device for any internal installation. The multi-disciplinary junction box reader is the ideal device for new and retrofit installations, as the footprint is the same as most standard wall light sockets. This means a neat and clean installation, without the hassle of trunking additional wiring. The installation process has been further streamlined through the use of terminal blocks, enabling the device to be quickly and easily wired.

For high security needs, the reader can be connected to an ITRT or Wiegand cluster controller, to enable full 128-bit data encryption. All readers include a tri-coloured LED which visually depicts whether access is granted or not, along with an audible electric buzzer. The LED can also be used for basic diagnostics. Another important feature of the junction box reader is the inclusion of a tamper switch. As soon as power and comms have been connected, the tamper switch becomes active and any attempt to remove the device will result in an alert being sent.

The Wiegand Readers are compact, robust 125 kHz Passive Proximity Readers. A conveniently placed link allows you to use the Wiegand Readers in OEM applications using 26 or 44-bit Wiegand Protocol.

Access Portal - ANTENNA READERS

The ImproX 125 kHz Antenna Readers are compact, 125 kHz Tag Readers.

The Antenna Readers are compatible with the IXP20, IXP220, IXP400 or Access Portal Control Systems. The Antenna Readers include a single bi-coloured Red or Green Status LED. Selected models also include a single tone Buzzer. You can adjust the Buzzer volume to any one of these four levels (off, low, medium and high). You can set the functions of the Buzzer and Status LED to suit the needs of your application. Selected models feature a 12-button numeric or alphanumeric (model dependent) Keypad. You may use the Keypad for Personal Access Code (PAC), PIN-Code or Reason Code entry. Intended for indoor or outdoor use, selected models feature robust metal housings and fully potted electronic components. The potting compound prevents vandals tampering with the electronic components.

  • A single bi-coloured Red or Green Status LED.  

  • When used in OEM applications, Read/Write Tag capability for various Tag types: Slim Tags (Read Only), Omega Tags (Read Only), Philips HITAG™ 1 (Read/Write) and Philips HITAG™ 2 (Read/Write).

The (MMA) Mullion Antenna Reader is a compact Reader. 

The Antenna Reader includes a Status LED; its functions are application specific. The MMA is designed for use with Impro Antenna Terminals in the IXP220, IXP400 and Access Portal Systems. The MA is designed for use with Impro Antenna Terminals in the IXP220, IXP400 and Access Portal Systems. The Antenna Reader is intended for indoor or outdoor use. Access Portal - MULTI-DISCIPLINE T&A READERS

Portal Readers - Biometric Multi-discipline Time and Attendance (BMTA)

The Biometric Multi-discipline Time and Attendance (BMTA) reader is a compact biometric solution that is specially engineered for time and attendance applications.

In addition to the onboard fingerprint reader, the device is capable of reading a multitude of
tag types making it ideal for new or existing applications as there is no need to replace your existing tags – often a drawback in upgrading sites. The unit also makes use of three unique identifiers, being finger, tag and pin, along with any combination of the three for enhanced security.
The BMTA’s LED screen facilitates the sending of messages to specific individuals or groups of people, and can be personalised to your specific needs. The BMTA is also available in an OEM version with a touch capable LED screen, for system integrators.
The reader can be used for time and attendance transactions only, or alternatively, can be connected to an Impro XSR relay, to drive relays as well as inputs, where access control
is required. This has the benefit of being able to place the relay for the reader on the secure side of the door, vastly increasing security.
The BMTA seamlessly integrates into both the IXP and Access Portal ranges and can communicate via both TCP/IP and RS485.

The (MDTA) Multi-discipline Time Attendance Terminal is designed for a wide variety of uses.

The ImproX MDTA Terminals applications include:

  • Time and attendance

  • OEM custom requirements.

  • A 240 x 320 Pixel, 65 K Colour, Thin Film Transistor Liquid Crystal Display (TFT-LCD).

  • A 12-button Keypad.

  • A single-tone, 4-level volume (including off) adjustable Buzzer.

  • Operation from power inputs in the range 8 V to 14 V DC.

  • A Software utility to upgrade Firmware while installed on-site, without removal of the Terminal and with zero downtime.

New technology allows the ImproX MDTA to read both 125 kHz and 13.56 MHz frequency Tags. These Terminals therefore fit seamlessly into new or existing applications allowing you to upgrade Tag technology without replacing existing Tags. You can use the ImproX MDTA in both indoor and outdoor (dry) environments. The ImproX MDTA offers a 12-button Keypad allowing PIN-code entry, and a 4-level, single tone Buzzer. You can control the functions of the Buzzer to suit the needs of your application.

The Impro (MD DBv) Multi-discipline Vertical Mount Drop Box with Card Capture Unit

 

A Tag reading Terminal designed to interface with Impro Access Control Systems, as well as OEM applications, via RS485 or IP connection.
The Multi-discipline drop box supports both 125 kHz and 13.56 MHz frequency options, reading up to 9 different tag types and fit seamlessly into new or existing applications allowing you to upgrade to new Tag technologies without replacing existing Tags.


The MD DBv provides access control to one door in Full Anti-passback (APB) by using a Wiegand Reader as the incoming Reader, and the Drop Box as the outgoing Reader. Alternatively, use the Wiegand Reader as the outgoing Reader for permanent Tagholders and the Drop Box as the outgoing Reader for visitor Tagholders.


The MD DBv is available in a white powder coated 304 Stainless Steel cabinet.

Access Portal - MOBILE PORTAL READERS

Portal Readers - Mobile Portal Handheld

Mobile Portal is a hand-held unit that provides complete mobile validation for your access control system, giving you the freedom to manage access into buildings, temporary entrances, festivals or almost any location.

The unit is ideal for a variety of applications that require offline validation, as the database is stored on-board the device. This means great flexibility, whilst still enabling rapid read times. In addition, all transactions are visible on the full colour touch screen, at the time of the event.

Mobile Portal provides full support for tag and finger verification, as each device includes full finger print biometrics and is able to read both ISO14443 cards and industry standard tags (Mifare, iCLASS and Felica). In addition, the device can be set up to read both tag and finger, or just tags. Another benefit of Mobile Portal is directional reads can be individually set on the unit. This means when a visitor arrives, the operator logs the event as an entry and, when leaving, the visitor is logged as an exit. This provides for accurate reporting, when synchronised to Access Portal, so you are able to account for all people at a remote location. The unit operates on an embedded Windows OS platform, which provides the opportunity for additional features or functions to be included in each device. Mobile Portal is able to withstand multiple drops from six foot to concrete, but is still light enough to comfortably carry in one hand.

The reader can also be set to one direction (entry or exit) for when a large amount of people are entering a facility, for example, time logging of employees onto a construction site. All transactions undertaken by Mobile Portal are seamlessly uploaded to Access Portal for complete auditability and reporting, as if the device was a traditional fixed reader. This occurs automatically when the Mobile Portal device is docked into the base station and a Live! view of the transactions can be seen.

Access Portal - UHF RECIEVER

The Impro (QR) Quad Receiver is a compact, lightweight, 4-Channel, 433.92MHz, RF Receiver - and part of the Impro Range of access control system products.

Entry-level customers should take note that the Quad Receiver also caters for small-scale private/commercial access control installations when used with the UniScan/FlexiScan Controllers.The Quad Receiver accepts 433.92MHz transmissions (either OOK or FSK modulation schemes) from the Hand-held Impro Quad Transmitter (TRK900).


RF Tag information is decoded within the Quad Receiver and then sent to the respective Terminal or Controller, for access control purposes.
Intended for indoor or outdoor use, the receiver’s electronics are conformal coated and contained in a black, glass-filled Nylon housing.
The HRR901 variant is designed for use with an external antenna (via SMA connector), where flexibility is needed for special requirements.
